How to sign your Arkansas title when selling your vehicle

The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following steps:
  1. Print (don’t sign) your name on the back of the title where it reads “Seller(s) Printed Name”.
  2. Sign your name on the back of the title where indicated by “Seller(s) Signature”.

How to get a duplicate vehicle title

If the vehicle was last titled in a state other than Arkansas, you must apply for a duplicate title in the previous state where the vehicle was last titled.
The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following steps:

  1. Fill out the Arkansas Title Application Form.
  2. You can chose to do one of the following options: Bring your duplicate title application to the Arkansas DMV offices, or, If you are out of state, you can mail your application to the Arkansas division of motor vehicles at:

Department of Finance and Administration
Special License Unit
P O Box 1272
Little Rock, AR 72203

Please note that there is a minimum of three weeks to process. The cost is $10.00 paid to the Arkansas division of motor vehicles

Do I need to return my licence plates to the state?

Yes, unless you are transferring the plates to a new vehicle. You can return the plates to your local Arkansas county clerk’s office.

Do I need to cancel my auto insurance?

Notify your auto insurance company that you have sold your car so they can either cancel your policy, or transfer/renew the policy to your new vehicle.
