How to sign your Hawaii title when selling your vehicle

The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following easy steps:
  1. Always sign and print your name on the front of the title where it says “Printed name and signature of seller. If there is more than one owner of the vehicle, both must sign the title.

How to get a duplicate title for my vehicle

If the vehicle was last titled in a state other than Hawaii, you must apply for a duplicate title in the previous state in which the vehicle was last titled.
The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following steps:

  1. Fill out the Hawaii Application for Duplicate Title for either Hawaii County or Oahu.
  2. Bring the application to your local DMV office. Hawaii or Oahu

Please note that there may be a waiting period to receive your new title and the cost is $5.00 in Hawaii County and $10.00 in Oahu.
