How to sign your Indiana title when selling your vehicle

The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following easy steps:
  1. Always sign the back of the title where indicated by “Signature of Seller”
  2. Secondly, print (don’t sign) your name on the back of the title where it reads “Printed Name of Seller”.

How to get a duplicate title for my vehicle

If the vehicle was last titled in a state other than Indiana, you must apply for a duplicate title in the previous state in which the vehicle was last titled.
The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the Application for certificate of title or use the online myBMV system.
  2. You can choose to do one of the following options: Bring your application to your local Indiana BMV branch, or, Mail your application to the ID bureau of motor vehicles at:
